Before modern refrigeration and exhaust fans, traditional architecture relied on wind currents and morning sunlight. Positioning the kitchen in the Southeast harnessed the dry morning sunlight to disinfect food preparation surfaces and utilized natural convective drafts to carry cooking fumes and smoke away from the rest of the living quarters.

The person preparing meals should always face East. Facing East allows the cook to absorb gentle morning ultraviolet rays, enhancing serotonin levels, mindfulness, and the nourishing pranic quality of the food.
The cooking stove (Fire) and the water sink/dishwasher (Water) must never be placed immediately adjacent to each other, nor directly opposite each other along narrow corridors. Maintain a minimum physical separation of 3 feet, or introduce an intermediate wooden or earthen counter space.
Requires Immediate Energetic Remedy
A Northeast kitchen is considered one of the primary structural Vastu afflictions. Since breaking walls is impossible in flats, you must energetically cool and pacify the zone without extinguishing domestic cooking.
Install a dark green or off-white marble slab directly underneath the gas stove. Paint the kitchen walls in light off-white or cream (avoid red or orange). Embed a copper wire circuit around the stove platform.
Strictly Prohibited without Shielding
A common wall between the kitchen (where food is prepared) and the toilet (where bodily waste is eliminated) produces severe energetic contamination and airborne bacterial contamination.
Affix a continuous zinc or lead metal strip along the common wall floor joint, and line the common wall on the kitchen side with full-height white ceramic tiles.
Green, Maroon, Tan, or Warm Cream (Never Jet Black)
