देवता: Lord Brahma, Lord Rama

According to the Brahma Purana, Lord Brahma initiated the cosmic clock and set planetary orbits into motion on this precise morning, commencing the current Kalpa. In Western India, it also commemorates the return of Lord Rama to Ayodhya after his victory, marked by raising triumphant flags outside every home.

Embracing life as a harmonious synthesis of pleasure, pain, and wisdom (Samatvam), stepping forward into new endeavors with renewal.

रीति-रिवाज

• Stringing fresh green mango leaves and neem twigs (Torana) across thresholds
• Drawing intricate Kolam and Rangoli patterns laced with lime and flower petals
• Erecting the auspicious Gudi—a bamboo staff tipped with neem leaves, cloth, sugar garland, and an inverted silver or copper kalash

Performing early morning oil baths (Abhyanga Snana) before sunrise, followed by the ritual hoisting of the Gudi. Families gather to hear the Panchanga Sravanam—the recitation of yearly astrological planetary transits and forecasts.
