इतिहास एवं उत्पत्ति

देवता: Lord Sri Krishna (Balagopala), Devaki and Vasudeva, Yashoda and Nanda Baba

Prophesied to overthrow the tyrannical king Kamsa, Krishna took birth at the stroke of midnight during a raging thunderstorm. Miraculously, prison iron chains snapped open, guards fell asleep, and his father Vasudeva safely ferried the infant across the roaring Yamuna river inside a wicker basket under the hood of Sheshanaga to the safety of Gokul.

Divine joy (Ananda), detachment without renunciation of action, and pure surrender (Bhakti) to the eternal supreme friend.

FAQ

What is the significance of the tiny white footprints drawn on the floor?

They symbolize welcoming the divine infant Krishna into the house, imagining him playfully tiptoeing into the home shrine with butter on his hands.

Why is Dhaniya Panjiri offered instead of standard wheat flour panjiri?

Because devotees observe strict grain-free fasting on Janmashtami, roasted and spiced coriander seed powder serves as an auspicious, digestive, and grain-free prasad.
