Introduction
योग निद्रा
Yoga Nidra is a systematic state of conscious relaxation where the practitioner remains internally alert while the body and logical mind enter a state analogous to deep, dreamless sleep (Susupti). It bridges active conscious awareness with the unconscious mind.
02
States of Consciousness
Outer-directed sensory awareness (Sthula/Gross).
Inner mental/subtle projections (Sukshma).
Causal state without form or mental activity (Karana).
Pure witness consciousness underlying and transcending the other three.
03
Brainwave Progression
Active waking, logical thinking, external alertness, high stress potential.
Relaxed awareness, Pratyahara, brain synchronization.
Deep meditation, hypnagogic state, subconscious access, emotional release.
Deep sleep / Susupti; cellular repair and total physical restoration.
04
Eight-Stage Systematic Framework
Lying in Shavasana, setting physical stillness, withdrawing senses from external noise.
Planting a positive, present-tense, concise intention into the subconscious (e.g., ‘I am grounded and resilient’).
Rapid movement of awareness through bodily points in sequence, remapping the sensory cortex.
Unforced counting of breath (e.g., 27 to 1) with abdominal rising and falling.
Alternating Heat/Cold, Heaviness/Lightness, Pain/Pleasure to balance hemispheres and foster detachment.
Guided succession of archetype symbols and landscapes to clear Samskaras.
Repeating the exact original resolution so it roots in the receptive subconscious.
Gradually return awareness from Chidakasha to breath, room sound, and gentle movement.
