Introduction
Unlike Ahata Nada (struck sound), which requires physical friction or collision, Anahata Nada is the self-existent, uncreated vibration of pure cosmic consciousness vibrating within the subtle body (Sukshma Sharira).
अनाहत नाद
- Hatha Yoga Pradipika (Chapter 4 — Nadanusandhana)
- Nadabindu Upanishad
- Shandilya Upanishad
- Siva Samhita
02
Mechanism of Perception
Perceived via Divya Srotra (divine/subtle hearing) as Kundalini enters Sushumna Nadi.
Requires mind stillness (Chitta Vritti Nirodha) and clearance of peripheral channels (Ida and Pingala) through Pranayama and Bandhas.
Practitioners close external senses with Shanmukhi Mudra and focus inner hearing toward the right ear.
03
Stages of Nada Ascent
Physical identification dissolves; a sense of profound weightlessness and inner warmth emerges.
Emotional attachments and dualistic ego release; profound devotion (Bhakti) and inner peace saturate consciousness.
Intellectual pride and egoic observer identity dissolve; intuitive wisdom and subtle visions arise.
Merger of individual consciousness (Jiva) with universal consciousness (Brahman); attainment of Samadhi and Moksha.

Practice Framework — Nadanusandhana
षण्मुखी मुद्रा
Shanmukhi Mudra — closing ears, eyes, nostrils, and mouth to seal external sense activity (Pratyahara).
Ignore coarse/loud initial sounds and direct attention toward increasingly refined, subtle background sounds until only the central vibration remains.
