01

Theological significance

After the Kurukshetra War, the Pandavas sought Shiva to redeem their sins. Shiva assumed the form of a bull and dove into the earth; his hump manifested at Kedarnath. It is the premier shrine of the Panch Kedar and Char Dham Himalayan pilgrimage.

The sanctum

Built from massive grey granite stone slabs capable of withstanding harsh Himalayan winters. The garbha griha enshrines a triangular, hump-shaped natural stone rock mass worshipped as the Jyotirlinga.

A pilgrimage is fulfilled not only by reaching the shrine, but by arriving inwardly— with gratitude, patience, and a quiet mind.
