Dwarka, Gujarat Tenth Jyotirlinga (Protector from Poisons & Serpents) Maa Nageswari

Begin with reverence—let the deity’s presence settle before you read on.

01

Theological significance

Demon Daruka imprisoned a devout Shiva devotee named Supriya in the forest of Darukavanam. Upon Supriya's intense chanting, Lord Shiva appeared from a luminous cave to destroy the demons and established himself as Nageshwar. Worshipping here renders devotees immune to physical and spiritual poisons, fear, and negativity.

The sanctum

Features a giant 85-foot-tall outdoor statue of Lord Shiva in a seated posture. The underground garbha griha houses a small, smooth tri-mukhi Swayambhu Jyotirlinga with a natural silver serpent canopy.

A pilgrimage is fulfilled not only by reaching the shrine, but by arriving inwardly— with gratitude, patience, and a quiet mind.
