Step-by-step procedure

Step 1

Chowki Setup & Kalash Sthapana

Shastri Ji says: Clean the altar area. Cover a wooden stool with a clean red/yellow cloth. Draw a small Swastika with Roli on the cloth and place raw rice in the center. Install the Ganesha idol facing East or North. Next to Him, set up a Kalash filled with water, mango leaves, and a coconut wrapped in a red cloth placed on top.

Prana Pratishtha & Shodashopachara Rituals

Invite Lord Ganesha's energy into the idol by chanting mantras while touching a flower to the idol's heart. Perform Shodashopachara (16 offerings): offer water for washing hands/feet, apply Chandan and Roli, offer Janeu, shower fresh Akshat, and adorn Him with red hibiscus flowers.

Durva Grass & 21 Modak Offering

Offer 21 Durva blades tied into bundles of two while chanting 'Om Ganapataye Namah'. Present 21 freshly steamed Modaks or Besan Laddoos as the primary Bhog.

ॐ गं गणपतये नमः दूर्वाङ्कुरान् समर्पयामि।मोदकप्रियाय नमः।

Step 4

Aarti, Visarjan Sankalpa & Blessing

Light camphor or a Ghee lamp and perform the famous 'Jai Ganesh Deva' Aarti with the family ringing the bell. Conclude with a prayer for the wellbeing of the household and set the timeline (1.5, 3, 5, or 10 days) for eco-friendly home Visarjan.
