Mealtime Gratitude & Mindful Eating
Brahmarpanam (Bhagavad Gita 4.24 - Consecration of Food)
ब्रह्मार्पणं ब्रह्म हविर्ब्रह्माग्नौ ब्रह्मणा हुतम् । ब्रह्मैव तेन गन्तव्यं ब्रह्मकर्मसमाधिना ॥
Brahmārpaṇaṃ Brahma Havir Brahmāgnau Brahmaṇā Hutam | Brahmaiva Tena Gantavyaṃ Brahma-Karma-Samādhinā ||
Simple meaning
The offering is Brahman; the oblation is Brahman; it is offered by Brahman into the fire of Brahman. One who sees Brahman in all actions surely attains Brahman.
For kids
Taking a 10-second pause to recite this before eating reminds kids that food is energy for life, not just something to swallow while watching television.
Big idea
Mindful eating (gut-brain axis activation) and screen-free mealtimes.
