Sattvik Living & Ayurvedic Wellness

In classical Ayurveda and Yogic philosophy, food is not merely calories or macronutrients— it is Prana (life force) that shapes your body (Annamaya Kosha), your mind (Manomaya Kosha), and your daily vitality.

Move from a transactional view of health to a Sattvik-Ayurvedic perspective— and transform your entire lived experience.

01

Evolution of Mindset: Modern vs. Sattvik-Ayurvedic

The same plate of food can be fuel for a machine—or an offering that nourishes body, mind, and spirit. Here is how the lens shifts.

Dynamic
Modern
Sattvik-Ayurvedic
Primary Focus
Counting calories, macros, and scale weight.
Cultivating Prana, Agni, and Ojas.
Body View
A machine that needs fuel or strict physical training.
A sacred temple governed by natural cycles and Prakriti.
Dietary Goal
Weight control, aesthetics, or quick fixes.
Mental clarity, emotional equilibrium (Sattva), and longevity (Ayus).
Relationship to Food
Often transactional, strict, or guilt-inducing.
A daily devotion—Annam Brahma (Food is Divine Consciousness).

Understanding the Three Gunas

Ayurveda and Yoga teach that every food carries a subtle energy that directly shapes your state of mind. Tap a quality to explore its nature.

Pure & Elevating

Sattvik

Fresh, seasonal, whole, gently cooked foods.

Effect: Peace, mental clarity, joy, lightness, and spiritual focus.
  • Fresh sweet fruits & leafy greens
  • Whole grains (rice, quinoa), mung dal
  • Nuts, seeds, pure ghee
  • Fresh herbal teas

The Core Engine: Your Agni

In Ayurveda, you are not what you eat—you are what you digest.

Agni — Digestive Fire

The internal force that transforms raw food into bodily tissue (Dhatus). Strong Agni builds clarity and vitality.

Ama — Toxic Residue

When Agni is weak or overloaded, undigested food becomes Ama— sticky residue linked to sluggishness, brain fog, skin breakouts, and joint discomfort.

4 Pillars to Honor Your Agni Daily

  1. 1

    Eat with the Sun

Agni peaks when the sun is highest (12:00 PM – 1:30 PM. Make lunch your primary, most nourishing meal.

  2. 2

    Leave Space

Fill the stomach 2/4 solid food, 1/4 liquid or soup, and leave 1/4 empty for air and digestion.

    Food Liquid Space
  3. 3

Warm & Cooked over Cold & Raw

Ice water and cold raw salads extinguish Agni like ice on a campfire. Prefer room-temperature or warm fluids and gently spiced cooked meals.

  4. 4

    Mindful Mastication

Digestion begins in the mouth. Chew thoroughly and avoid screens, phone calls, or heated arguments while eating.

04

Embracing Your Unique Constitution (Prakriti)

Ayurveda recognizes three fundamental biological energies—Doshas—composed of the five elements. Select a Dosha to see how it tends to live and eat.

The Three Doshas

Vata — Air & Ether

  • Dynamic, creative, light
  • Tends toward dry skin, variable digestion, anxiety, and coldness

Nourish with: Warm, grounding, unctuous foods— healthy fats (ghee) and grounding stews.
