Srisailam is one of the rarest sacred sites in India where a Shaktipeeth (Bhramaramba) and a Jyotirlinga (Mallikarjuna) coexist within the same walled compound. The Goddess assumed the form of a bee ('Bhramari') to slay the demon Arunasura.
