Epics (Mahabharata)

Karna's Generosity and Truthfulness

Characters: Karna, Lord Indra

In the great epic Mahabharata, Karna was famously known as 'Danveer Karna'—a warrior who never turned away any beggar empty-handed. Born with natural, protective armor and divine earrings fused to his skin that kept him invincible in battle, Karna was a formidable force. Knowing this, Lord Indra decided to test Karna's legendary generosity. Disguised as an elderly, frail sage just before a crucial war, Indra asked Karna for his divine armor and earrings as alms. Even though Karna's inner guides warned him that this would leave him vulnerable and defenseless, Karna did not hesitate for a second. With a radiant smile and a steady heart, he took a blade, carved away his protective armor from his own body, and handed it over. Indra, deeply humbled by his supreme sacrifice, blessed him with celestial weapons of immense power.
