Lord Kubera, the wealthiest being in the universe, wanted to show off his immense riches and gold by hosting a grand, lavish feast for all the gods. He specially invited young Lord Ganesha, hoping to impress him with endless dishes of rare sweets and delicacies. Ganesha arrived, sat down at the table, and began eating. But a strange thing happened—no matter how many trays of food the royal chefs cooked and served, Ganesha finished them instantly and cheerfully asked, 'Is there anything more? I'm still hungry!' Soon, all the food in Kubera's palace ran out completely, but Ganesha's appetite wasn't satisfied, and he began nibbling on the palace furniture! Panicked and humbled, Kubera ran to Lord Shiva for help. Shiva smiled and handed Ganesha a single handful of simple roasted rice, saying, 'Eat this with love and gratitude.' The moment Ganesha tasted it with a humble heart, his hunger vanished instantly. Kubera realized that all his gold couldn't buy humility.
