Aristotelian 3-Step Categorical Syllogism

To test the formal logical validity of a relation between terms regardless of physical existence.

  1. States a general rule asserting a category relation (Major Term + Middle Term).

    Classical: All humans are mortal.

  2. States a specific instance belonging to the category (Minor Term + Middle Term).

    Classical: Socrates is a human.
