Theological significance
According to legend, Goddess Sati's right big toe fell at Khirgram. Ramayana traditions hold that Lord Rama worshipped Goddess Yugadya here to rescue Lakshmana and defeat Ahiravana in Patala. The shrine is famous for its unique water-immersed deity tradition.
