Navratri Overview — Nine Nights of Navadurga

A clear map of Sharad and Chaitra Navratri—day by day, then deeper practice articles.

Navratri (nine nights) honours the Divine Mother as Navadurga. Rooted in the Mārkaṇḍeya Purāṇa and Devī tradition, these nights move from grounding (Śailaputrī) to fulfillment (Siddhidātrī). Use this page to scan each day, then open full day guides or related practice articles.

What is Navratri?

Navratri is a sacred period of worship, fasting, japa, and inner purification dedicated to Devī. Families establish the Ghaṭa (Kalash), sow barley (jawāre), light a continuous lamp, and honour one form of Navadurga each day. Both Chaitra (spring) and Sharad (autumn) Navratri follow this nine-night arc; Sharad often culminates toward Vijayadaśamī.
