Introduction
Griha Pravesh is a sacred ritual performed before living in a new house to purify the living space, align the energy fields (Vastu), invite positive vibrations, and seek protection from negative influences.
Milestone Samagri Checklist
- Raw Cow Milk & a new brass/steel vessel
- Mango leaves (Amra Pallav) and Toran (door hanging)
- Copper Kalash, raw coconut, and Moli (red thread)
- Kumkum/Roli, Turmeric (Haldi), and Akshat
- Camphor (Karpura) & Brass Camphor Burner or Dhoop
- Rock salt (Saindhava Namak) & Spray bottle with water
- Jaggery (Gud) or Sweets for celebration
Step-by-step procedure
Step 1
Main Threshold Gate Blessing (Dwar Pujan & Swastik)
Shastri Ji says: The main entrance is the gateway for divine energy. Tie a fresh Mango leaf Toran across the top frame. Draw Swastik symbols using Kumkum mixed with ghee on both sides of the door. Step into the house right foot first while carrying a photo of Lord Ganesha or a Kalash.

Step 2
Kalash Sthapana & Ishan Kona Pujan
Set up a clean altar in the North-East (Ishan Kona) corner of the home. Place a copper Kalash filled with water, a coin, and mango leaves, topped with a red-wrapped coconut. Pray to Vastu Purusha and Goddess Lakshmi to permanently reside in your home.

Step 3
Milk Boiling Ritual (Doodh Ufanna)
In the new kitchen, place a new pot on the stove. Boil fresh cow milk until it intentionally overflows gently over the sides. This signifies abundance, emotional richness, and prosperity overflowing in your family's life. Add sugar and cardamoms to make sweet Prasad.

Step 4
Space Cleansing with Camphor & Salt Water
Burn Camphor (Karpura) or Dhoop in every room, walk clockwise around the entire house while ringing a hand bell to disperse trapped negative energies. Sprinkle rock-salt water in every corner of the rooms.
