Epics (Ramayana)

The Golden Deer

Characters: Rama, Sita, Lakshmana, Maricha

While living quietly in their forest cottage during exile, Mother Sita spotted an astonishing, radiant deer bounding through the trees with glowing golden fur and sparkling spots of sapphire. Captivated by its unusual beauty, she asked Lord Rama to catch it for her. Wise Lakshmana looked closer and warned, 'Be careful, brother! This forest is full of magical demons playing tricks to distract us.' Rama smiled gently, trusting his instincts to protect Sita, but instructed Lakshmana to guard her closely while he tracked the creature. Sure enough, the golden deer was a disguised demon trying to lure them apart. The story serves as a classic reminder to look past shiny, distracting superficial temptations and maintain deep situational awareness.
