Chapter 1
Decline of the Virtuous Town and Sheila's Devotion
In a prosperous town, residents lived peacefully until bad company, gambling, and vanity corrupted the people. A pious woman named Sheila and her husband lived humbly in this town. Though her husband was influenced by bad vices and lost all his wealth, Sheila remained steadfast in her patience, righteousness, and devotion to God.
Chapter 2
The Appearance of Goddess Lakshmi in Disguise
One Friday afternoon, an elderly woman with an extraordinarily gentle face visited Sheila's house. Sheila welcomed her with warmth and offered her water. The elderly woman, who was Goddess Lakshmi in disguise, explained the Vaibhav Lakshmi Vrat procedure—observing Friday fasts, placing a red cloth with rice and a silver coin/jewelry, offering kheer, and distributing the Vrat books to 7, 11, or 21 people upon completion.
Chapter 3
Observance of the Vrat and Restoration of Wealth
Sheila observed the Friday fast with utmost devotion according to the instructions. Soon, her husband's mind reformed, his lost business revived, and their home was filled with peace and abundance. Inspired by her, neighboring women also observed the Vaibhav Lakshmi Vrat, restoring moral order and happiness throughout the town.
