Chapter 1

Madhu-Kaitabha Vadha (Mahakali Episode)

King Suratha, stripped of his kingdom, and Samadhi, a merchant betrayed by his family, met in the ashram of Sage Medhas. Troubled by attachment to their lost possessions, they asked the sage why human minds remain trapped in illusion. Sage Medhas revealed the glory of Mahamaya (Cosmic Energy). He recounted how two formidable demons, Madhu and Kaitabha, emerged from Vishnu's earwax while he was in cosmic sleep (Yoga Nidra) and attempted to slay Brahma. Brahma prayed to Goddess Yoganidra, who stepped out of Vishnu, awakening him to vanquish the demons.
