According to the Matsya Purana and Surya Samhita, Lord Surya illuminated the universe on this tithi seated on a magnificent chariot crafted by Vishvakarma. The chariot features a single cosmic wheel with twelve spokes (representing the months) drawn by seven horses, symbolizing the seven days of the week, the rainbow spectrum, and the seven solar meters.
